About Us

Community Connection is an information and referral organization with a mission to create and improve access to services for people.

We leverage our unique skills and innovative technology to engage in partnerships focused on addressing local and regional community needs.

Community Connection was established in 1969 as the Collingwood and District Information Centre, a social purpose organization and registered charity

View our Vision/Mission/Values.

Community Connection is committed to building a more just and equitable community. We recognize the history of oppression that has resulted in ongoing disparities for the people and communities we serve and the limitations of a nonprofit framework to address them. Our mission and vision inspire us to challenge ourselves to deconstruct frameworks of oppression while building opportunities for learning, change, and accountability.

Check out our Accreditation and Credentialing, based on Inform USA’s standards for information and referral organizations and programs.

We have a fantastic team of 25+ people inspired by helping others. The work within four areas of focus: inquiry services, data resources, business intelligence and social enterprise.

Learn more about our partnerships and projects. Community Connection does nothing alone. We work within multiple shared governance and shared service delivery models.

Community Connection acknowledges its office is within the boundaries of Treaty 18. We recognize that the traditional inhabitants of this land include the Metis Nation, Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Wendat Confederacy.

We acknowledge the profound and lasting effects that poverty, trauma and the history of oppression have resulted in ongoing disparities for the people and communities we serve.

Community Connection’s work is to guide people through the human service system and overcome barriers to acquiring needed services.

We are committed to culturally relevant and responsive approaches that honour the identities, experiences, and strengths of equity-deserving populations. We recognize and support their unique needs through inclusive, respectful, and community-informed practices.
